World of tanks vs war thunder12/19/2023 This is a very important distinction and one many people seem all too happy to gloss over. War Thunder (henceforth WT) has always leaned towards realism, or at least, Gaijin’s interpretation of it World of Tanks (henceforth WoT) has always valued smooth gameplay over realism. This is going to be quite lengthy – grab your poison of choice and a snack. Let’s take a look into some of the reasons why, and some of the things each game has going for it. They’re two completely different games, with completely different objectives. Some things have changed since then in both games, but by and large, the overarching theme is the same: they don’t really compare. One of the only places where WoT could be seen to have an advantage over WT is the grind, the problem for some is that in order to progress without paying you have to play certain tanks in order to advance your progress, if one tank is absolute garbage but the tree gets better you simply have to grind your teeth and deal with it or pay to progress, where as in WT you can progress with any tank as long as it's in the same nation, using the previous vehicles is just more efficient. This piece was submitted to us by World of Tanks and War Thunder veteran Rossmum.īack in May, I decided to write a piece for my oft-neglected blog about the comparisons between War Thunder and World of Tanks. While WoT may require "skill" the game certainly doesn't help this unlike in WT where knowing the range could allow you to pop out of cover, shoot, and go back, WoT's gunner have the recollection of a goldfish and require you to sit there like an idiot until the circle gets small enough the game might not screw you over anyways. While WoT and WT aren't trying to be simulators like IL-2, WT gives a much more authentic in terms of how the vehicles perform, tanks will feel actually heavy instead of the go-karts in WoT, not to mention the camera making this worse for WoT and better for WT. WoT and WT are two different games but WT is better than WoT in a couple fields such as in immersion, skill requirement, and in some regards the grind. Year would be terrible.Īnd yes, it is much more fair to be in a 1940s tank against a 1980s tank in WT than a tier 8 against a tier 10 in WoT I agree with gaijins choice to balance using player data as the primary driver of where a tank is placed. The Jpz4-5 is 6.7 and produced in 1965, but it would be god awful if it was up in 7.7 with alot of other 60s tanks. The maus (7.7), IS7(8.3 i think), T-54(7.3-7.7) were all being designed or produced before the end of ww2, yet I would not want them down in 6.7. There are plenty of tanks that are designed in the mid to late 40s, and 50s and 60s that are either much lower BR than tanks of similar time frame, or much higher BR than similar time frame. Tank capability TENDS to increase as time goes on, but that is not a rule, just a generalization. Thats not touching on how asinine WoTs MM can be with how it stacks tiers in a match A bottom BR for sure is more balanced, but what about high BR where 1940s tanks face against tanks from the 1950s,1960s (same goes for planes), what kind of balancing is that? At least with WT i can enjoy multiple different tanks in a match and dont have to deal with WoTs god awful tier systemĪ bottom BR tank against a top BR tanks in a match of WT is much more fair than a bottom tier against a top tier tank in a match in WoT.
